The Bad Batch is back! (Yes, even Tech). In this tale from the Clone Wars, Clone Force 99 is dispatched on a mission after a thief. After failing to prevent the thief from fleeing Coruscant, they are hot on the mysterious thief’s trail all the way to Kessel.

Much of the issue takes place on Kessel, as the Batch strategizes on how best to get to the thief without drawing the attention of the Pykes. Here, Moreci relies on the pre-established dynamic of the Batch, falling into their archetypes rather than more nuanced characters. Wrecker likes violence. Tech is smart. However, with this all being said, this book doesn’t have to be more than that. It’s a kids comic for kids. It doesn’t have to be the most groundbreaking or artistic book on the market. It should, however, be fun. And it is fun.

Reese Hannigan, Elisabetta D’Amico and Michael Atiyeh take Moreci’s script to the point it needs to be. The action is there, and it’s heightened by the choices that Hannigan makes in his panel choices and how he chooses to showcase the characters. Every fight feels like a scene out of an action movie, even better than at, it feels like an episode of The Bad Batch and fits perfectly in with these characters’ stories.

If that premise sounds good to you, then I would recommend picking up this issue and the previous one to see where this story goes.
